Polarity is a new contrast-therapy and nervous-system recovery concept coming to Budapest. It is being created as a place to move intentionally between heat and cold, activation and rest, privacy and community—and return to life feeling more present, resilient and connected.
Join Early AccessFollow the CampaignModern life asks the nervous system to process more than ever before. Constant notifications, artificial light, noise, work pressure, travel, financial stress and endless streams of information leave very little space to fully recover.
Many people now operate somewhere between wired and exhausted. We struggle to switch off, feel disconnected from our bodies and often wait until we are already depleted before giving recovery our attention.
Polarity is being built in response to this reality—not as another place to temporarily escape, but as a space to intentionally practice moving through intensity and returning to calm.
Polarity’s mission is to make nervous-system-focused recovery practical, repeatable and accessible before exhaustion becomes the baseline.
Through private contrast-therapy experiences, guided protocols, complementary wellness practices and community connection, Polarity will help people build a more conscious relationship with stress, discomfort, rest and resilience.
This is not about pushing the body to extremes. It is about learning to listen to it.
We envision a future where recovery is treated as a regular practice rather than an occasional luxury or emergency response.
Polarity will begin with a pilot studio in Budapest: an intimate space where the experience can be tested, refined and shaped alongside the community it serves. From there, the vision is to develop a larger Budapest flagship and eventually bring the concept to other European cities.
Each location will reflect its local community while remaining rooted in the same purpose: creating intentional spaces where people can reconnect with their bodies, expand their capacity and return to balance.

Budapest already has one of the world’s most recognizable thermal cultures. Its baths have long offered places for restoration, connection and ritual.
Yet there is still a clear gap between traditional public baths, luxury spas, athletic recovery facilities and private, guided nervous-system care.
A growing community of locals, international residents, remote workers, wellness practitioners and travelers is looking for more personal ways to recover from physical strain, emotional pressure, overstimulation and exhaustion.
Polarity is being created to fill that space—not by replacing Budapest’s thermal traditions, but by offering a new expression of them.
At the center of Polarity will be private contrast-therapy suites combining sauna and cold-plunge experiences with guidance for different needs and experience levels.
The wider environment is planned to include:
Every element will serve the same intention: helping people safely meet intensity, move through it and experience a conscious return to rest.
Polarity is being built for people who recognize that their bodies and nervous systems need more than occasional relaxation.
That community includes:
Some will come to recover physically. Others will come for mental clarity, emotional grounding, community or the simple experience of feeling fully present in their bodies again.
Abby Trudell is an American entrepreneur, creative director, breathwork facilitator and somatic wellness practitioner based in Budapest.
Her path into Polarity was not linear. It developed through more than a decade of remote work, extensive travel, personal health challenges, experimentation with recovery practices and an ongoing study of how the body responds to stress, safety and transformation.
Polarity brings those experiences together into a single mission: to create the kind of recovery space she spent years searching for herself.

Abby left Wisconsin at 19 because she knew she needed to experience a world beyond the environment in which she had grown up. She went on to live in 35 cities and travel to many more, building a remote career for over a decade that allowed her to continually explore different cultures, communities and ways of living.
The freedom of remote work also came with its own pressures. Years spent working through screens, moving between places with visa and beaurecratic requirements, and carrying the demands of self-employment created a growing awareness of what chronic stimulation could feel like in the body.
Her personal health journey through challenges like histamine intolerance/sensitivity, mold exposure, and chronic stress led her deeper into biohacking, contrast therapy, breathwork, nervous-system health and holistic recovery. What began as self-education and experimentation gradually became a more formal path.
Abby became certified in breathwork and continued her studies in somatic coaching, metaphysics, herbal wellness and body-based approaches to healing. She began facilitating somatic and nervous-system-focused workshops in Budapest, creating experiences around breath, movement, sound, emotional expression and reconnection.
Through this work, she saw how many people were carrying the same underlying exhaustion. Different lives and stories were producing a similar feeling: people were overstimulated, disconnected and looking for ways to feel safe and present within themselves again.
After living in Croatia for 3 years, Abby then moved to Budapest and felt something she had not experienced in the same way elsewhere: a genuine sense of home.
After years of movement, Budapest felt like the place all those experiences had been leading toward. The city’s energy, architecture, thermal heritage, creative communities and mixture of local and international life made the purpose behind Polarity feel suddenly clear.
She had always felt guided toward the place where she was meant to make a meaningful contribution. Once she arrived in Budapest, that feeling stopped being abstract.
This was where she was meant to build.
Polarity grew from the meeting point between Abby’s personal journey and a need she could see within the community around her. It is both a business and a deeply personal healing process—one that asks her to bring everything she has learned into a physical space that can serve others.
Intentionality over intensity
The goal is not to tolerate the most extreme temperature or prove physical toughness. Every experience should have a clear purpose and respect the body’s limits.
Privacy and community
People need both personal space and meaningful connection. Polarity is designed to offer private recovery alongside shared experiences and community support.
Guidance without dependency
Guests will be supported in understanding the practices rather than simply following instructions. The aim is to help people develop awareness they can carry beyond the studio.
Recovery before collapse
Rest and regulation should not begin only when someone becomes completely depleted. Recovery deserves a regular place within everyday life.
Local roots, wider vision
Polarity begins in Budapest and will grow through the people, practitioners and partnerships that shape its first home.
Polarity will develop in stages:
The Pilot
The first Budapest studio will introduce private contrast-therapy suites, guided protocols, community experiences and space for complementary practitioners. This phase will allow the concept to develop through real feedback and real relationships.
The Flagship
The larger Budapest flagship will expand the private-suite model while introducing a substantial community sauna, broader recovery technology and a more complete practitioner and event ecosystem.
European Expansion
Once the model has been established and refined, the longer-term vision is to bring Polarity to other European cities—beginning with locations where wellness culture, international communities and the need for intentional recovery naturally intersect.
Growth is part of the vision, but it will not come at the cost of the experience or purpose behind the concept.
Polarity’s first studio will be built with the support of the people who believe Budapest is ready for a new approach to recovery.
